Overview
This unique position is a great fit for someone who loves to have fun with our senior residents! Whether it’s driving a group of residents during an activity outing or facilitating an on-site activity, the Van Driver / Activities Assistant supports our residents’ independence and ability to experience all that our community has to offer. The right person for the job will be patient, value others’ safety and time, and enjoy working with older adults. He or she must possess or obtain a valid driver’s license.
Schedule: Part-time (approx. 20 hours per week), Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the community vehicle as assigned by supervisor
- Assist with the planning and implementation of Life Enrichment activities
- Participate in various community events
- Inspect the community vehicle prior to operation
- Help load and unload passengers in a safe and courteous manner
- Maintain daily vehicle record
- Arrange for the vehicle’s state inspection and annual registration renewal
- Report any vehicle malfunctions or concerns to the supervisor immediately and make arrangements for repairs, as needed
- Ensure vehicle’s cleanliness inside and out
- Other tasks as requested by the supervisor
Qualifications
- Possession of a valid driver’s license (No CDL required!)
- A safe driving record as outlined in the community’s official Van Driver job description
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
